    A 4-Step Bathroom Transformation

During my pregnancy I entered that well known nesting phase where everything needed to change so it would be just right for the baby. One of the rooms that bugged me the most was the bathroom and how cluttered it was. We had so many toiletries cluttering the side of the bath and the windowsill and it wasn’t what I wanted. We live in a rented property so adjustments to rooms need to be minimal and not damaging. I started browsing the web for inspiration and found 4 things that would make a tremendous difference to the way our bathroom looked. 1. Blinds The bathroom is on the ground floor…

Did Pregnancy Help With My Periods?

If you have read my posts before, then you’ll know I gave birth last October. I know I probably sound like a broken record but this relates to my post, I promise. Pregnancy was fun, one of the best things about being pregnant was not having periods. Of course there were other things I loved about being pregnant and things I hated but I am just going to focus on periods for today. I hate periods, I mean who doesn’t though? They are not fun at all, require spending money on products and most likely comfort food. Then there is the discomfort, the pain and the emotions. Basically it’s 12…

Superdrug Pick & Mix Review: Rose Gold

It’s been over a year since I dyed my hair so I’ll admit I wasn’t exactly top in the class of home hair dying. Not to mention it is particularly difficult to do so with a little baby. So it has taken me since before Christmas when I home bleached my hair to this point where I am quite happy with the colour of my hair. I decided to go for the Superdrug’s own hair dye Pick & Mix: Rose Gold because I liked the colour which wasn’t too over the top but still me. For those of you who don’t know, I used to love having my hair different colourful colours and…

    Bored and Broke?

We all have one of those days/evenings where we have nothing to do and have to keep ourselves occupied. Whether that’s because of lack of money or simply because everyone else has plans. This is how I feel half the time these days now I have the little baby to look after! Thus I have composed a list of things to do when there is no company and minimal funds. Ready? The number one entertainment I would suggest would be to watch some TV series, I usually just browse through Netflix and attempt to find something which I haven’t already watched. However, this is dangerous in terms of procrastination as you…

    Birth story: The after

I recently wrote about the birth of my daughter, Poppy, in an incredibly long post, so I thought it would be best to write the rest separately. In the various birth stories I have read and watched before I haven’t seen anything about the afterbirth part. But for me this was probably the worst part of it all so I thought I would write about it here. So Poppy was born and we were enjoying our first moments together. In my birth plan I had opted to have the injection to help get the afterbirth and placenta out so it was time to get that injected into me. I had…

    What’s in My Hospital Bag?

Packing my hospital bag was probably one of the most stressful parts of preparing for birth. I mean, obviously thinking about the whole labour etc was stressful but I couldn’t really prepare for that part. I must have unpacked and repacked my bag an uncountable amount of times. I had a vague idea of what needed to be in the bag but I wasn’t 100% sure. Thankfully when we took a tour of the birthing centre at the hospital they provided us with a list of what we would need which was helpful to tick off. I tried to pack the best I could and include everything I needed but…

    Learning to love my body

This post is going to be personal and something that means a lot to me so thank you for reading. When I was 15/16 I absolutely hated my body, I always found something wrong with it. I had friends who were skinnier than me and I would always look at myself and make that comparison. I would see photos of us all and hate them because I looked different to my friends and I was not the size I wanted to be.Don’t get me wrong, looking back now I realise I wasn’t a bad size but I compared myself to others which made me feel awful about myself. Around this…

    Birth story

It’s that one that everyone loves hearing all about. Before giving birth I had read and listened to so many different birth stories and they were all incredible but no two the same. I loved reading into different experiences as it helped me understand the vast range of different things that could happen throughout labour and birth. But nothing could prepare me for my own experience of giving birth. I’d like to share my own experience today and hopefully give a little more insight into the beauty of child birth. This is going to be a long post so please grab a cuppa and get comfy! Sunday the 28th October,…
